Plant native to Virginia (United States). It belongs to the genus Fragaria and to the Rosaceae family.

Herbaceous and perennial plant with a fasciculate root system, short stem and conical (crown) with foliar scales, rosette leaves with two red stipules, flower with 5-6 petals and fruit of the aquenio type.

The world’s leading producer is the United States, followed by Spain and Japan.
