Szparagi

Szparagi

Pochodzą z obszaru basenu Morza Śródziemnego; oraz należą do rodzaju Asparagus i rodziny Liliaceae.

Jest to długowieczna, dwupienna roślina zielna, składająca się z podziemnej łodygi (pazur) i cylindrycznych, grubych i mięsistych korzeni. Ich pąki są narządami, z których wyrasta jadalna część (kiełek); kwiaty są małe, pojedyncze, dzwoniaste, zielono-żółte, a ich owoce to okrągłe jagody.

Produkcja szparagów rozwinęła się w ostatnich czasach, a ich największymi producentami są Chiny, Peru i Stany Zjednoczone.
