Almond

Originally from the mountainous regions of Central Asia. It belongs to the Rosaceae family and to the genus Prunus.

It is a tree with a smooth trunk when it is young and cracked with time, lanceolate and pointed leaves with jagged or scalloped edges, white and pink flowers and the fruit is a drupe with an edible seed inside.

Its cultivation is very widespread worldwide and the most producing countries are the United States and Spain.
